Ayurvedic properties:

+Reduces kapha and pitha
+Anti- toxic
+Anti- inflammatory – reduce infections
+Anti- allergic
+Good for skin diseases
+Improves colour of skin
+Carminative, good for digestion.
+Hepato protective – good for liver

Most important anti toxic herb. Very commonly used herb in Indian dishes. By adding turmeric powder in the dishes which we make, most of the major and minor harmful substances present in the food stuffs get killed. Turmeric is used in various anti- infective , anti- allergic, Anti – toxic ayurvedic medical preparations like decoctions, powders, oils, herbal pastes etc.

Turmeric protects the gastro – intestinal lining and this is useful in stress- alcohol- drug induced ulcers, diarrhoea. Turmeric helps in liver disorders too. It is useful in hepatitis, jaundice, diabetes. It has anti-cancerous properties as well. Most of the skin irritation and infections like ringworm get relieved by application of turmeric on skin. Turmeric is also used in eye infections. The anti- allergic property and healing power of turmeric is well known. Turmeric has certain constituents like curcumin which has the property to relieve pain.
In general turmeric is a well known Indian home remedy for all kinds of infections, allergies, toxins both external and internal, for improving the skin lustre and colour.

Some drawback:

Over intake of turmeric can cause some gastric irritation to people who are more prone to acidity.
